Our knowledge database
In our knowledge database you will find further information on the topics of bullet resistance, burglary resistance, and fire protection. Here you can find more information about the regulations and standards applicable in Europe.
Whether it’s a renovation or new construction, the safety requirements for the various building elements are diverse. It is particularly important during the planning phase to consider that not only individual devices must meet the corresponding safety standards but the entire system. Experience shows that connections and links to other components are particularly important. We are happy to assist you in the planning of your building.
Bullet Resistance
The bullet resistance class depends on the quality of the product and the firearm used by the perpetrator. Depending on the level of resistance, the product is classified into classes FB1 to FB7. The classification is based on the European standard DIN EN 1522.
The standard applies to all bullet-resistant doors, windows, facades, and all other bullet-resistant materials. It also includes that the glazing incorporated in the construction must be tested according to the corresponding Euro Norm 1063.

Burglary Resistance

Burglary resistance is divided according to Euro Norm EN 1627 into 6 resistance classes. These are designated with the abbreviation RC for resistance class. A higher class indicates better burglary protection. The various resistance classes indicate how long our products can withstand attempts at forced entry using different tools. Doors, windows, curtain facades, and closures are tested.
During the testing of windows and doors, it is ensured that there are no weak points in the overall construction (frame, fittings, glazing or door leaf, frame, and lock).
Fire Resistance
Our products are classified into different resistance classes according to their fire resistance duration. This classification is governed by the testing standard DIN EN 13501-2. This standard distinguishes the following criteria for describing the fire resistance of a product, regardless of its function in the building:
Load-bearing capacity (R)
Room closure (E)
Thermal insulation (I)

UVV “Cash Registers”
The administrative professional association has issued specific guidelines for the setup of banks, known as UVV “Cash Registers”. These deviate from the rigid standards of bullet resistance classes and burglary resistance levels. They are specially tailored to the requirements of banks and cash registers and are mandatory for German financial institutions. However, the UVV “Cash Registers” contains many ideas and recommendations that can also be helpful for planning banks in other countries.
