Sensor Barrier P5240
This electromechanical barrier was developed for public and semi-public entrance areas, where a simple yet reliable separation is desired despite high foot traffic. Changing visitor streams in either entry or exit direction can also be easily implemented. When used for authorized access control, card readers, either visible or hidden, are integrated into or on the device.
Construction and Execution
The glass barriers are made of single-pane safety glass, which can be either clear or tinted according to customer specifications and can also be printed as per requirements. The top cover is made of easy-care plastic. All technology related to the electromechanical drive, electronic control, and optical sensors is integrated into the two oval base bodies. Only an electrical connection is required for operation. In the event of a power failure or fire alarm (connection option available), the glass barriers open automatically.

Function
In its basic state, two glass barriers close the passage. If needed, both swing sideways into the housing, allowing passage. The sensor barrier typically operates bi-directionally, allowing entry through release by card readers, and exit without special requirements. The device checks the direction of passage and only allows one person to pass at a time. In case of improper use, an acoustic alarm is triggered, and the passage is blocked if possible. The various operating modes can be set on the device itself by trained service technicians or directly by local, instructed personnel via a control console or connected personal computer as needed.
Installation
The device is installed on a level, load-bearing, and finished floor. Based on the floor construction, an underframe must be created on-site. Power supply and any connection cable to the control console come from below. After fixing the mounting frame, the device is bolted to it. Delivery includes sensor barrier P5240 in stainless steel housing and a plastic cover, including mounting frame and standard dowels.
